Effusive Mbalula Heaps Praise On Wife’s Meatloaf

JOHANNESBURG – Sport and reacreation minister Fikile Mbalula last night described a beef and onion meatloaf cooked by his wife Nozuko as “an astonishing gregarious leap of taste explosions that will unite the continent. Asijiki, siyaya phambili!”. Mbalula, who recently made ebullient and impassioned speeches both ahead of South Africa’s AFCON group match against Morocco and Graeme Smith’s 100th test as captain, has quickly gained a reputation for grandiloquent oratory. Sources say Mbalula sat down for dinner at around 19h25 and immediately launched into his declamation when the meal was placed in front of him. “My darling, my taste buds are flowering like the African rennaisance! Let us bear testimony to your prowess on this day and not dilly-dally to hasten this delicious product rendered from the noble ox onto our mortal tongues!” The beaming minister reportedly later added that the meatloaf was a “humdinger.”

“Meatloaf” isn’t really funny. It sounds too much like the fat singer, which spoils the gag. And I can’t see Mrs Mbalula cooking a meatloaf, so it’s a culturally tenuous choice as well. Please try harder in your choice of foodstuffs.

Well said. Meatloaf is a dish long associated with colonial oppression and is counter revolutionary to African dishes.
